Shannon Clark began work at Castle Rock Entertainment in the spring of 1991 where she was hired to the publicity department in preparation for the release of City Slickers. The film was just one in many hits over the next two years with A Few Good Men, Honeymoon in Vegas, In the Line of Fire, and The Shawshank Redemption to follow during her time. Shannon Clark was made Publicist in 1994 where she spearheaded a press campaign for Richard Linklater's Before Sunrise.

Longing to be on the filmmaking side, Shannon Clark began work in 1995 with the fledgling production outfit Smith-Malkovich. Headed by producing partners Russ Smith and John Malkovich, the ambitious start-up set to work developing The Dancer Upstairs, The Libertine and an adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's Found in the Street. In 1998, Russ Smith and John Malkovich joined forces with producer Lianne Halfon and Mr. Mudd was formed. In 2001, United Artists released Mr. Mudd's first film Ghost World, directed by Terry Zwigoff and based on the graphic novel by Dan Clowes. Shannon Clark served as production executive on the film. Mr. Mudd's second production The Dancer Upstairs was released in the spring of 2003 to rave reviews and marks John Malkovich's feature film directorial debut. For Mr. Mudd, Clark served as the executive in charge of production on the documentary How to Draw a Bunny, a portrait of artist Ray Johnson. The film won the jury prize at Sundance and enjoyed a theatrical release in 2004. That same year, Clark was the executive in charge of Mudd's feature film productions The Libertine (staring Johnny Depp, Samantha Morton, John Malkovich,) and Art School Confidential (re-teaming Zwigoff and Clowes.) She was co-producer on the short documentary Some Assembly Required, a segment of the First Amendment Serives for The Sundance Channel and Court TV. She brought Gary Soto's prized novel Buried Onions to the company. The film adaptation, Historya is slated for a 2008 production start in Fresno, California.
